Robert Pattinson jokes that Kristen Stewart is pregnant

It was a joke, and one that has already set the internet ablaze following multiple fan reports that English actor Robert Pattinson quipped that Kristen Stewart was “pregnant” during today’s taping of The Oprah Show. The two appeared on Oprah’s set in Chicago with Taylor Lautner to film an interview for a 5/13 air date that will promote “Eclipse” and the Twilight franchise.
Rob’s comment was reportedly a deflective response to Oprah’s inquiry as to whether he and his leading lady were a couple. When asked whether they were together, Rob quipped that Kristen was pregnant, at which point Kristen shot back that it was Rob who was having the baby.
It wasn’t the first time the couple has been asked about their status, though Rob is quoted as having admitted to as much once or twice in the past. On the whole, both Rob and Kristen have avoided questions about their relationship, with Kristen going so far as to insinuate that she does not comment because any answer she might give is unlikely to curtail media speculation.
In 2008 and 2009, Summit was believed to be the culprit for the actors’ inability to speak candidly of their status. The prevalent logic was that they frowned upon confirmation of any real-life romance between Rob and Kristen, which could diminish from the on-screen love triangle between Edward, Bella, and Jacob.
Whether they are together or not, the message is clear—they’re back to not wanting to comment. After all, anything admitted publicly and jointly on a show with as much credibility as Oprah’s is as good as writing the news in the sky.
