Catching up with the 'Twilight' series soundtrack artists

Catching up with the 'Twilight' series soundtrack artists

There have been a few notable Twilight Saga soundtrack artist updates, and since several of our former groups will be appearing at tonight's MTV Music Video Awards alongside Ashley Greene, now is a good time to catch up with the series' musicians.

First of all, those expected to appear at the VMAs are Linkin Park (bringing a new song performance in at the show, per MTV), The Black Keys (nominated for "Breakthrough Video"), Paramore (performing; Hayley Williams co-nominated in several categories), Florence + the Machine (nominated for "Best Rock Video"), and Muse (nominated for several awards). The VMAs air live tonight at 9:00 p.m. EST, and you can check out a list of The Twilight Saga: New Moon and The Twilight Saga: Eclipse-related VMA nominations here.

Florence + the Machine ("Heavy in Your Arms" from the Eclipse soundtrack)'s Florence Welch recently talked about the name of her group, saying "What I like about the name is that it was didn’t want it to just be name. I didn’t want it to be a band name. I wanted it to be something that was ambiguous. As if it were me versus the machine or just me against my enemies with many different interpretations. The name itself came from a private joke between me and my friend." According to People Magazine, Welch also talked about her experience reading the Twilight series, saying "I went on holiday with my family [and] me and [my sister] Grace only had one book between us ... We were sharing a room and we'd be reading Twilight to each other at night. She'd fall asleep and be like 'You can't read ahead of me!' And I'd be secretly reading faster than her."

Meanwhile, Sea Wolf ("The Violet Hour" from the New Moon soundtrack)'s Alex Brown Church revealed that he is now going solo because "Now that the record is out, I feel like I can go back and do that and establish it as something different because by now people know who Sea Wolf is." He also talked about how being a part of the New Moon soundtrack has affected him, saying "I feel like there's probably more of the people who read indie blogs and are more into music. I think a majority of the fans are the people who have that indie personality. That hasn't changed dramatically."

As for the rest of the Twilight Saga soundtrack alums, here's a list of the latest in OST artist news:
