‘The Twilight Saga: Eclipse’ Blu-ray Releases of the Week
Now that you’ve recovered from a weekend of fighting off crowds at the mall, not to mention that tryptophan overdose from Thanksgiving Day, it’s time to make that last big push to make it through the holidays and get to the end of the year. Work seems like the last thing on your mind, but what these last few weeks really require is not just a little extra concerted effort in your cubicle, but enough downtime and distractions out of the office to make sure your energy levels stay high – at least until that five o’clock bell rings. And in our humble opinion, vegging out in front of the TV with a good movie (or five) is a great way to recharge those batteries while relaxing.
This week offers a pretty impressive variety of new releases, some of them four-square crowd pleasers and others content for decidedly more discriminating viewers. But whether you agree with our pans or oppose our picks, take a look at what we’re watching – or maybe suggesting you don’t watch – this week.
The Twilight Saga: Eclipse – The third installment in Stephenie Meyer’s improbably-popular series of novels comes home to Blu-ray via a spectacularly thorough new set. In addition to terrific presentation, the Blu-ray boasts two commentaries, one by Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart and the other by Meyer herself, as well as a six-part making-of documentary that can be viewed either with picture-in-picture presentation or as a standalone featurette. Deleted scenes and music videos round out the extra materials, but needless to say the movie itself is the main attraction, and as it’s widely-considered the best of the series thus far, “Eclipse” is a must-have release for both longtime “Twilight” fans and newcomers who are curious but unfamiliar with its predecessors.
