Robert Pattinson Denies 'Daredevil' Rumor, Worries About Fan Backlash For Any Superhero Role
Last week, a rumor that named "Twilight" star Robert Pattinson among the contenders for the lead role in David Slade's upcoming "Daredevil" pseudo-sequel caused no small amount of buzz around the online world.
When MTV News spoke to the "Water For Elephants" actor as part of this weekend's live, streaming "MTV First: Robert Pattinson" interview, we made sure to ask him about the rumor pegging him as a potential Matt Murdock.
"I don't know where that one came from at all," said Pattinson of the rumor.
The actor then went on to express the same puzzlement many comic book fans and theater-goers have felt with the recent onslaught of reboots.
"That's weird, didn't that only come out about three years ago?" he laughed.
We won't fault Pattinson on not knowing the release date for "Daredevil" (it actually premiered in 2003), we will fault him on who he suggested should play Marvel's blind vigilante in the upcoming film.
"Get David Slade to play him," he joked. "Oh no, he should play... who's the bald guy? Bullseye!"
All jokes aside, Pattinson admitted that while he'd love to play a superhero at some point (and even hinted that there's a specific character he'd like to play), he knows that comic book fans won't exactly be welcoming him with open arms.
"I shouldn't even say this stuff, 'cause all the little fanboys will be like, 'No! I'm gonna shoot him!'" he laughed.
