“New Moon” frolic shot was Robert Pattinson’s idea

“New Moon” frolic shot was Robert Pattinson’s idea

“I can’t stay silent about this anymore,” “New Moon” director Chris Weitz tweeted earlier today, “NM and the frolic…it was Rob’s idea.” The shot Weitz refers to occurs near the end of the film when clairvoyant vamp Alice sees a future vampire Bella frolicking through the woods with Edward. Bella’s skin sparkles conspicuously in the sun and the two seem to run in slow motion.

At the time the film came out, Weitz and other production staff expressed surprise that the shot elicited laughter in theaters. Fans largely viewed what became known as “the frolic scene” to be hokey—the shot was painstakingly blogged and tweeted about in the days following the release of the film.
