"Bel Ami" Review by Movie Juice

Are the panel impressed with Robert Pattinson movie Bel Ami?

Grant Lauchlan was joined by Siobhan Synot and Sergio Casci this week, with the trio giving their verdict on the movie version of the book by Guy de Maupassant.

This week’s Moviejuice review team was made up of STV movie buff Grant Lauchlan, reviewer Siobhan Synot and film lover Sergio Casci, who had to give their verdict on the latest Robert Pattinson offering, Bel Ami.

Based on the bok by Guy de Maupassant, the movie certainly boasts a stellar cast, with Twilight hunk Pattinson joined by A-listers Uma Thurman, Kristin Scott Thomas and Christina Ricci.

But unfortunately it seems this week’s reviewers weren’t exactly taken with the movie, which they felt lacked that special je ne sais quoi.

Siobhan said: “It’s a dull costume drama. What’s wrong is that if you’re going to have a sexy lothario, you wouldn’t call Robert Pattinson.”

I’m sure many ladies and Twilight fans would disagree Siobhan…

Fellow film fan Sergio Casci certainly disagreed on that point, commenting: “For me, Robert Pattinson had the right combination of sexy and slimy.”

But unfortunately that still wasn't enough to sway Sergio who wasn’t a huge fan of the big screen version of the story, saying that the 400-word book simply didn’t compress comfortably into a 90 minute film.

Find out exactly what the reviewers rated Bel Ami as on tonight's episode of Moviejuice.
