Robert Pattinson Loses His Shirt, Doesn't Sparkle, in Cosmopolis Trailer

"Show me something I don't know," Robert Pattinson taunts in the just-released trailer for Cosmopolis. No rush, though. Let RPattz go first -- and in the mere 34 seconds of Cosmopolis teaser footage on offer, you'll see the Twilight Saga heartthrob do things you've never seen him do before. Things like stabbing a dude in the head, and blowing a bullet through his own hand -- and just generally engaging in pants-less activities a good sparklevamp would never do unless he's married.

If you're only a Pattinson fan because of the Twilight Saga, we're sure you can let all that mom-unfriendly business slide, though. (RPattz is half-naked in the Cosmpolis trailer! Squee!) For the rest of us, the teaser is a disorienting glimpse at how far from Forks, WA Pattinson is taking his career.

The fact he's directed by David Cronenberg (Crash, Videodrome, A History of Violence) in Cosmopolis, would be your first clue. And in the film, Pattinson plays a nihilistic Wall Street whiz, who takes a 24-hour limo trip through Manhattan (here played by Toronto), doing various ungentlemanly things as he bleeds out his fortune in the stock market. And yes, he seems to lose his shirt and pants at various stops along the way.

The film, which was shot in Toronto last summer, co-stars Sarah Gadon, Samantha Morton, Jay Baruchel, Paul Giamatti and rapper K'naan and is rumoured to premiere at Cannes May 23.
