Oscar Nominee Amy Adams Shares Her Scenes With Kristen Stewart In 'On The Road'
There are very few reasons not to get excited about "On the Road." Director Walter Salles' adaptation of the classic Jack Kerouac novel is easily one of the most awaited book-to-film projects currently in development, and to say that the expectations for the Garrett Hedlund-starring flick are high — at least in our neck of the woods — is a very big understatement.
Just look at the cast assembled for this movie: Sam Riley stars as Sal Paradise, the tale's protagonist, with Hedlund as the cool but conniving Dean Moriarty, Kristen Stewart as Mary Lou and Amy Adams as Jane.
On the red carpet of the 83rd Annual Academy Awards on Sunday (February 27), we caught up with Adams, who was nominated that evening for "The Fighter" but lost to co-star Melissa Leo, about her work on "On the Road." But if you're hoping for a massive update from the frequently nominated Oscar contender, you're out of luck — although she plays an important role, Adams has yet to see any footage from the film.
"I haven't seen anything," she told MTV News. "I haven't even seen a photograph. But I'm really, really excited."
So are we, especially considering the lineup of actors she's working with, including "Twilight" sweetheart Kristen Stewart: "My whole part involves Kristen Stewart, Garrett Hedlund, Sam [Riley] and Viggo Mortensen."
One thing is for sure: if you thought that Amy Adams was tackling dark and gritty subject matter in "The Fighter," you haven't seen anything. The Oscar-winning boxing tale at least has a heartwarming resolution, while Adams' character in "On the Road" — who is married to Old Bull Lee, based on the then-closeted homosexual writer William S. Burroughs — explores some truly bleak territory.
"It's pretty dark," she agreed.
