Anton Corbijn Mentions Robert on his website

Anton Corbijn Mentions Robert on his website

This photograph is our first publicity shot from the film LIFE that i am currently shooting in Canada and USA. It is the story of James Dean and photographer Dennis Stock, set in early 1955. In the back of the car sits Jimmy as played by Dane DeHaan and in the passenger seat is Dennis, played by Robert Pattinson. Both guys are fantastic and are giving the film very good energy despite the very harsh winter we encountered in Canada.

Dane DeHaan Talks about "Life" with Independent

Dane DeHaan Talks about "Life" with Independent

Dane DeHaan has revealed that he made no attempt to become friends with Robert Pattinson before they started filming Life.

The Amazing Spider-Man actor stars alongside the Twilight heartthrob in Anton Corbijn's drama, focusing on the friendship between Life photographer Dennis Stock (Pattinson) and Hollywood icon James Dean (De Haan).

"It's an interesting relationship that they have. They do become close in the film, and they do become friends, but they're not friends from the start," he said.

"So what we did is we didn't try to make any sort of friendship beforehand. We got there and that's when our friendship started. So as it was happening on screen, it was also happening in real life."

The 28-year-old said they bonded on set, adding: " He's a really nice guy. He's totally chill and he's fun to hang out with, and he's fun to be on set with. We had a great time."

Sir Ben Kingsley and Joel Edgerton also star in Life, which wrapped shooting on April 1.

"We just finished a week and a half ago," Dane said.

Life, which is now in post-production, is expected to be released later this year.

Joel Edgerton Joins Robert Pattinson in ‘Life’

Joel Edgerton has joined the cast of Anton Corbijn’s period drama “Life,” opposite Robert Pattinson and Dane DeHaan.

Shooting started recently in Ontario, Canada, on the film, which Corbijn is directing from a script by Luke Davies (“Candy”). The film also stars Alessandra Mastronardi.

The story centers on the friendship that developed between photographer Dennis Stock (Pattinson) and actor James Dean (DeHaan) when Stock was commissioned to photograph the star for Life magazine in 1955. The assignment took the pair on a photographic journey from Los Angeles to New York and on to Indiana.

Edgerton will portray Magnum Photography editor John Morris, who brokered the deal for the photos with Life.

Edgerton recently wrapped production on “Exodus” and “Midnight Special” and will soon begin shooting alongside Johnny Depp on “Black Mass.”

Edgerton is represented by CAA and Shanahan Management. Bob Wallerstein is his lawyer.

Producers are See-Saw Films’ Iain Canning and Emile Sherman with Christina Piovesan of First Generation Films. The film is co-produced by Wolfgang Mueller and Benito Mueller of Barry Films and financed by Corner Piece Capital, LLC, Telefilm Canada, Film4, Screen Australia, Michel Merkt and Union Bank, N.A.

FilmNation Entertainment is handling international sales.

Robert Pattinson and Dane DeHaan in 'Life': First Look

Robert Pattinson and Dane DeHaan in 'Life': First Look

It’s 1955 and Life magazine photographer Dennis Stock has convinced a young James Dean to take a road trip from Los Angeles to New York to Dean’s hometown of Fairmont, Indiana, so Stock can photograph Dean in the environments that “affected and shaped the unique character” of Dean, the photographer said in an interview describing their adventure.

However, that fateful trip, where Stock shot Dean’s famous Times Square photo, is the subject of a new film directed by Dutch director Anton Corbijn. Starring Dane DeHaan as Dean and Robert Pattinson as Stock, the film, called Life, is currently shooting in freezing Ontario, Canada, which is doubling for Indiana.

In the shot, the two young actors are heading from the train station to Dean’s childhood home. Corbijn is happy with the film’s progress thus far. When we spoke to the director he had been shooting for eight days and was already pleased with the connections formed between the two men.

More importantly, they’ve each sparked to their disparate roles.

“Rob has an intensity that I think Dennis would have. When I see Rob, I see an inner turmoil that is great for the role,” he said. “And Dane is really interesting. He has a beautiful face, but it’s a hard face to grasp. It’s hard to see how Dane reads sometimes, and the same thing goes for James Dean.”
