Scenestealer: Water For Elephants

Scenestealer: Water For Elephants

HOW clever of a brooding vampire to surround himself with two Oscar winners - a diabolical SS German Officer and a legally blond country singer - in an obvious bid to extricate himself from severe typecasting and a middling (albeit phenomenally popular) teen franchise.

Based on the novel by Sara Gruen with a script by Richard LaGravenese, Twilight heartthrob Robert Pattinson stars as Jacob, a penniless 23-year-old veterinary school student who parlays his expertise with animals into a job with a second-rate travelling circus during the Great Depression. He falls in love with one of the show's star performers Marlena (Walk The Line's Reese Witherspoon) but, alas, their romance is complicated by Marlena's husband (Inglourious Basterd's Christophe Waltz), who also happens to be the charismatic but unbalanced circus boss.

The buzz around town is that there is Oscar talk surrounding R-Patz's performance, but we're guessing it's mainly due to his cult of female fans campaigning based on their libido for the pale but popular idol, rather than his actual acting - seeing as no one's actually seen the movie yet.
