Robert Pattinson Picks Up An Action Role In 'Mission: Blacklist'

He's been a sparkly vampire, a social-climbing Parisian Lothario, a penniless veterinarian and a Voldemort victim—and now, Robert Pattinson is about to add "grizzled military hero" to his ever-expanding list of post-"Twilight" roles.

Deadline reports that RPattz has signed on to star in "Mission: Blacklist," a based-on-a-true-story psychological thriller about the events that led to the capture of Saddam Hussein. The actor will be playing army interrogator Eric Maddox, who masterminded the efforts that culminated in Hussein's arrest... which means that not only will we be seeing more of Rob's well-practiced American accent, but he'll be in uniform, to boot.

...We'll wait while you finish hyperventilating.

This is Rob's first foray into action-hero territory (although now that we're thinking about it, that buzzed haircut might have been a hinty harbinger of things to come), with the movie set to begin filming later this year—giving the actor plenty of time to develop not only his character, but also the requisite military muscles for the part. And while fans are no doubt still looking forward to seeing Rob reprise his role as Edward Cullen when the final film in the "Twilight" series releases in November, we're not gonna lie, it's pretty exciting to see the eternal teen heartthrob start to come into his own and act...well, y'know, like a man. Literally! Because acting!
