New informations on "Mission:Blacklist"

New informations on "Mission:Blacklist"

The Swedish invasion into Hollywood continues. Jesper Ganslandt has been tapped to direct Robert Pattinson in the psychological thriller Mission: Blacklist, about a brilliant young military interrogator who spearheads the capture of Saddam Hussein. Pic is based on the life of soldier-turned-intelligence agent Eric Maddox, who funneled his experiences into the 2008 nonfic book Mission: Black List #1 – The Inside Story Of The Search For Saddam Hussein – As Told By The Soldier Who Masterminded His Capture. The Code Entertainment project was announced at Cannes last year, back when Jean-Stéphane Sauvaire was set to direct. Following Sauvaire’s departure, Ganslandt stepped in and will make his English-language debut after directing three features — Blondie, The Ape, and Falkenberg Farewell — in his native Sweden. Filming is scheduled for the fall.

The script is by Band Of Brothers scribe Erik Jendresen, Dylan Kussman, and Trace Sheehan. Ross M. Dinerstein of Preferred Content is producing alongside Jendresen and Kevin Waller, with Code Entertainment producing and financing the project. Jesper is repped by Paradigm and Magnolia.

Dylan Kussman Talks About ''Mission:Blacklist" with Mission Blacklist France

Dylan Kussman Talks About ''Mission:Blacklist" with Mission Blacklist France

Tell us about your work for Mission: Blacklist and how you ended up being a part of this project ?
I became involved with Mission: Blacklist when head writer and Executive Producer Erik Jendresen contacted me about contributing to the project. At the time, he and his co-writer Trace Sheehan were deeply immersed in adapting Staff Sergeant Maddox's book, Mission: Black List #1, and were looking for an additional voice to help flesh out the main character and structure his remarkable story as a movie. It was an honor to be asked to collaborate with two such accomplished and well-respected writers, on a story with such an incredible pedigree, and I accepted without a moment's hesitation.

Was it complicated for you to work on this book and, particularly, on this subject ?
The most challenging part about working on the project for me personally was absorbing the vast amount of research Erik and Trace had compiled before I came onboard. On top of the book itself, there were hundreds of pages of interviews they'd conducted with the Staff Sergeant, firsthand accounts of the Iraq War and of the American presence in Baghdad and Tikrit after Saddam's fall -- I had to get up to speed in a hurry. Once I'd gotten on top of the material, however, I was fortunately able to see a strong and clear contribution I could make towards rendering this soldier's mind-bending ordeal into a piece of dramatic cinema. Incredible human beings don't always make compelling onscreen protagonists, but between the work we've done as writers, Jean Stephane Sauvaire's guiding hand as director, and Robert Pattinson's committment to playing this inspiring figure with the fearless honesty for which he's known, I don't think that will be the case here.

Eric Maddox Mentions Robert with OuDaily

Eric Maddox Mentions Robert with OuDaily

Eric Maddox - interrogator, author and OU alumnus explained the process of finding and capturing Saddam Hussein and detailed the dilemmas he faced to about 300 people in Oklahoma Memorial Union’s Molly Shi Boren Ballroom.

This same story is encapsulated in his book, “Mission: Blacklist #1,” on which a movie will be based starring Robert Pattinson, who will play Maddox.

“Somebody wants to make a movie about my story - it’s very exciting,” Maddox said.

Maddox said he has already met and gotten to know Pattinson.

“He’s a great guy,” Maddox said. “When they brought his name up to me, I had never heard of him before. I don’t believe in vampire movies and stories. I just didn’t know who he was.”

Maddox said he wore a single blue shirt for months in his search for Hussein, with no other changes of clothes. The shirt has a bigmouth bass embossed on it, Velcro pockets and bloodstains.

“I’ve still got it [the shirt.] I think Rob is gonna wear it in the movie,” Maddox said.

Maddox had to wait five years to tell his story and write the book due to the U.S. government preferring to keep it classified, he said.

“Since then, the United States government wanted me to endorse the movie, and wanted me to say who I am and what I do,” he said.

Robert Pattinson Hunts Saddam Hussein in New Thriller: 5 Reasons He's the Man for the Job

Robert Pattinson Hunts Saddam Hussein in New Thriller: 5 Reasons He's the Man for the Job

Robert Pattinson Spared From Filming in Dangerous Iraq

Robert Pattinson Spared From Filming in Dangerous Iraq

Robert Pattinson won’t be heading into harm’s way in Iraq after all, when he starts filming “Mission Blacklist” about Saddam Hussein’s capture during the Iraq War, according to sources.

Rob will be jumping out of his current picture, “The Rover,” and right into filming his psychological thriller.

Principal production is scheduled to start as soon as April, studio Embankment Films has announced on its website.

A source confirms to TheImproper that the movie won’t be shot in Iraq as originally reported. The film will likely do its location shooting in Morocco or Jordan.

A number of period desert films have been shot the North African country, including 2001′s “Black Hawk Down.” In the last few years, Michael Patrick King’s “Sex and the City 2,” Disney’s “Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time,” and “Inception” have been filmed there.

But Director Kathryn Bigelow chose to film her Oscar-winning Iraq war epic, “The Hurt Locker,” in Jordan. She wanted to be as close to Iraq as possible, while avoiding the war-torn country. “Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade” also filmed in Jordan in 1988.

Reports surfaced last November that Pattinson, 26, would film at least some portions of “Mission Blacklist” in western Iraq. Conditions are still tense there and sectarian killings by suicide bombers are still almost an everyday occurrence.

The U.S. military presence in Iraq ended in December a year ago and British troops left the country ahead of them.

At the time, Rob revealed that his family opposed having him filming in the country, but later relented. “My parents seem to be coming around to it now,” he told MTVNews. “That’s strange. I don’t know what happened.”

In “Mission Blacklist,” the British actor will star as Sgt Eric Maddox, who leads the hunt for the dictator that leads up to his capture. The movie is based on a book by Maddox.

It’s unknown whether the movie will deal with controversial interrogation techniques approved by the Bush administration, including “water-boarding.” Many of the techniques have been deemed forms of torture.

“The Rover” is a western set in futuristic post-apocalyptic Australia. Pattinson plays Rey, a robber who is wounded and abandoned by his gang during a hold up. His victim, played by Guy Pearce, forces him to track down the gang to recover his stolen stuff.

Mission Blacklist is scheduled for release in Summer 2014.

Robert Audio Interview with Mission : Blacklist France

Robert Audio Interview with Mission : Blacklist France

Hi! One of your next projects is Mission:Blacklist. What made you choose this role and are you really going to scout locations in Iraq?
I read the script. I thought the script…I didn’t even realize that the script was a real story and then they told me it was a true story. I met Eric Maddox who it’s based on. He’s one of the most fascinating people I have ever met and the story’s amazing. We’re looking into Iraq, I mean he was there, I mean it’s quite difficult obviously to go there, but I think it would be a good thing to do to go and start… you know.

Robert Pattinson Hunts Saddam Hussein in New Thriller: 5 Reasons He's the Man for the Job

Robert Pattinson Hunts Saddam Hussein in New Thriller: 5 Reasons He's the Man for the Job

Twilight made him a household name, but since his explosion in popularity, vampiric heartthrob Robert Pattinson hasn't been content in letting fame shoehorn his career. His next role is proof: Pattinson is reportedly attached to star in Mission: Black List, a psychological thriller that puts him in the shoes of real life Army interrogator Eric Maddox. Maddox was influential in the capture of Saddam Hussein, his tell-all book (on which the film is based) revealing in detail how he used non-violent, mind-bending methods to draw out the information he needed.

Perceptions of Pattinson's range are often shortsighted thanks to the demands of his breakout role (Edward Cullen ain't doing him any favors), but Mission: Black List could be a defining part for the young actor. Here's why:

Pattinson will track down Saddam Hussein and "It’s going to be a fucking great movie"

Pattinson will track down Saddam Hussein and "It’s going to be a fucking great movie"

Robert Pattinson, who is bound to suprise a lot of people in three weeks when Cosmopolis will be presented at Cannes, doesn't seem to want to stop there yet. The 'adult' turn the star is taking will go further with Mission: Blacklist, the new movie by Jean-Stéphane Sauvaire, director of the impressive Johnny Mad Dog in 2008. The movie is a thriller inspired by Eric Maddox's book, the military interrogator who was the brain of the operation that lead to the capture of Saddam Hussein in December 2003. Erik Jendresen, screenwriter for Band of Brothers is in charge of the adaptation, with a shooting that should be starting in the Fall.

"We're going to do some scout locations in Iraq soon."

"As Jean-Stéphane is used to work with non professional actors, I thought I had no chance of getting the role," Robert Pattinson told us recently. "But we met a few times and we clicked. He found a fascinating way to deal with this subject. It's weird because it's a movie about war but it's essentially focusing on the interrogations. The language and the barriers he could create played an important role. But it's essentially the story of a true soldier, Eric Maddox, with whom we're leaving for Iraq soon for some scouting"

"Jean-Stéphane is truly surprising" says Pattinson. "He has talent when it comes to meeting people. Like, for example, out of nowhere, he got to spend some time with the Iraqi Minister of Culture. He also got to meet this guy who was a former chief of the Hussein clan and he was really close to him. I asked him: 'How do you get to meet a man like that?' He said he met him in a bar in Paris!"

After Johnny Mad Dog, immersed in the every day life of extremely violent kids - turned solders - in Liberia, Sauvaire seems to have found a new subject cut out for his explosive film making technics. "Johnny Mad Dog was an extremely strong piece, that possessed a truly documentary value, while still being cinematic," says Pattinson with enthusiasm. "I cannot wait to work with him on Mission: Blacklist. It's going to be a f***ing good movie."

RPattz will play the man who helped capture the Iraqi leader in 2003.

Robert Pattinson is on a "Mission: Blacklist" in his new thriller. The heartthrob is set to star in the big-screen adaptation of the Eric Maddox book that tells the story of the man who played a vital role in the campaign to capture Saddam Hussein.

The film is being adapted by "Band of Brothers" writer/producer Erik Jendresen from Maddox's book "Mission: Black List #1: The Inside Story of the Search for Saddam Hussein — As Told by the Soldier Who Masterminded His Capture," according to The Hollywood Reporter. Davin Seay co-wrote the book with Maddox, who was the military interrogator that played a key role in the 2003 capture of the Iraqi leader. The film will be directed by Jean-Stephane Sauvaire and is expected to get shopped around at the Cannes Film Festival this month. Pattinson will be there to promote his David Cronenberg film, "Cosmopolis."

"This movie is a gripping, edge-of-your-seat thriller," producer Ross M. Dinerstein said in a statement about the film, according to The Baltimore Sun. "I have been inspired by Robert and Jean-Stephane's dedication to tell this story in the most authentic way possible."

"Mission: Blacklist" is the latest edgy, unexpected film that Pattinson has added to his post-"Twilight" résumé, which includes Cronenberg's trippy "Cosmopolis" and the sexy costume drama "Bel Ami." Pattinson's final "Twilight" film, "Breaking Dawn - Part 2," is set for release in November.

While "Mission" is still in development, Pattinson recently returned to the "Twilight Saga" set to film reshoots for "Breaking Dawn."

Robert Pattinson Picks Up An Action Role In 'Mission: Blacklist'

Robert Pattinson Picks Up An Action Role In 'Mission: Blacklist'

He's been a sparkly vampire, a social-climbing Parisian Lothario, a penniless veterinarian and a Voldemort victim—and now, Robert Pattinson is about to add "grizzled military hero" to his ever-expanding list of post-"Twilight" roles.

Deadline reports that RPattz has signed on to star in "Mission: Blacklist," a based-on-a-true-story psychological thriller about the events that led to the capture of Saddam Hussein. The actor will be playing army interrogator Eric Maddox, who masterminded the efforts that culminated in Hussein's arrest... which means that not only will we be seeing more of Rob's well-practiced American accent, but he'll be in uniform, to boot.

...We'll wait while you finish hyperventilating.

This is Rob's first foray into action-hero territory (although now that we're thinking about it, that buzzed haircut might have been a hinty harbinger of things to come), with the movie set to begin filming later this year—giving the actor plenty of time to develop not only his character, but also the requisite military muscles for the part. And while fans are no doubt still looking forward to seeing Rob reprise his role as Edward Cullen when the final film in the "Twilight" series releases in November, we're not gonna lie, it's pretty exciting to see the eternal teen heartthrob start to come into his own and act...well, y'know, like a man. Literally! Because acting!
